The days of poor quality re-broadcaster Pirate TV in the Torrevieja area is slowly becoming a distant memory as both freesat and sky can now be received on a smaller dish in the Costa Blanca area. At present many people are happy with a 1M dish that is great for Holiday homes or properties with limited space or some apartment blocks that have power deluded presidents that insist that 1M is enough (trust me they are out there) and with many people still upset with the disapearance of Telmicro 5 years ago now choosing to invest in a new dish and a box.

With most of the new generation of "smart" TV systems that also incorporate both USB & HDMI ports and the latest high definition "HD" Samsung tuners as used by LG, Toshiba & Panasonic allowing the viewer TV in both HD and 3D. Now whilst many people may think of 3D TV as a gimmick, you will be surprised that once you have watched 3D TV especially something like an underwater adventure on a coral reef will be blown away by the experience and unlike the UK most Spanish properties have black out blinds so that you can blank out the natural light so that you get the best possible picture. SKY currently have a dedicated channel showing various 3D TV shows and special 3D TV Sports events and 3D Movies.

In places like Media Markt & Carrefour you can some 3D smart TV packages that include 3D glasses and even a DVD player and all the cables. We reckon that 40" - 46" is ample size unless you are looking for a home cinema set up to include a 62" LED smart TV.
There are some other benefits with smart TV particularly if you download media content off the internet and have an external hard drive that you can either plug in to the smart tv or access over your home network.
With new technology becoming available and with an increase in high definition broadcasts such as BBC1 HD, BBC 2HD, CH4 HD and others the need of 2M+ dishes is not always required. At present we are hedging our bets and installing a minimum of 1.4 dish as the signal from CH5 can be received at an acceptable level, however we are advising clients that are resident on the Costa Blanca or have the space and budget to invest in a Famaval 1.9 satellite dish as we believe that this will provide total peace of mind and uninterrupted viewing of all SKY & FREESAT channels although as usual there may be some that are simply impossible to receive in certain areas, this is the case with a couple of the sky movie channels, although this should not affect HD subscribers.
We have a very popular option with families that own a holiday home in Spain that also have SKY TV in the UK that allows you to bring your sky card on holiday with you. The box that we use is a specially designed box that will unlock your card when you insert it in to the card slot & when you are not at the property say perhaps when friends or family are staying that do not have sky in the UK they will still be able to view all of the FREE channels such as BBC ITV CH4 E4 SKY NEWS etc.

Over the past 18 months we have had many people contacting us regarding "magic" boxes and "wizards" boxes that are connected to the Internet and allow you to watch UK SKY TV for a low price, our advise is simple "You get what you pay for" and we can confirm that we have had many clients contact us with reports of the system crashing after just 3/4 weeks and contact numbers not being answered.
